For us, your home is a special place. We don’t like materialism, but love design and aesthetics. We see less as more, and so everything, however small, should be chosen with care. We don’t view quality as elitism – but as sustainability.
The lighting in a home changes not only the mood of that room but also the perception of its size. Placement and form are important aspects of interior design, and they work in conjunction with color selections, room size, availability and placement of natural light as well as furniture. The elements that come together when the right lighting is achieved, transforms your home into a seamless blend of functionality and style.
In terms of how we work, we handle all aspects of a project – from concept to completion – and strive to create beautiful and timeless products that our clients will enjoy for many years to come.
We proudly collaborate with industry leaders in design and offer exclusive designer editions, creating signature interpretations of light and design by combining cutting-edge ideas with technical discoveries. Together, we are highly curious and on a joint search for exceptional designs, concepts and technologies.
The Crystalline Collection expresses traces of process, traces of a chaotic and dynamic transience captured in a moment of stillness through the serenity of crystal: a record of a continuous flux that has been frozen in time. The collection unearths and frames the energy and beauty left by the flows of natural destructive processes, contemplating and recording the arbitrary tracks within this perpetual movement. They are studies of the relationship between natural and synthetic, geometric and organic, analogue and digital, sculptural and industrial, one-off and multiple.
This is a collection of functional objects where the context, process and sculptural aesthetics are paramount, as with fine art sculpture. The pieces are a symbiosis between us, physically, our vision, the material used and the process.
Lightcom was founded back in 1996 in Tyrol, focused on design projects and unique lighting solutions. Since the beginning, Lightcom is specialized in the use of LED light. Lightcom has worked with some of the leading names in the industry and collaborates with light planners as well as architects and designers.
In its 25th year, Lightcom marks a new milestone by founding DESIGNCOM. DESIGNCOM, short for DESIGN COMPANY, is the platform for premium products and exclusive designer lighting editions. A new online presence, as well as a new extension of the headquarters, including a design studio and showroom, are among several highlights.
With new headquarters built in 2019, in the middle of a picturesque village near Innsbruck, Tyrol, Lightcom extended its own production facility to more than 1000m². The modern machine-park is equipped with numerous manufacturing capabilities, such as laser cutting in both plastic and metal, a turning and milling center, powder coating, glass bead blasting, CNC press brake, CNC portal milling using an 8-fold tool changer, hydraulic deep-drawing press, certified photometric measurements, a CNC cable assembly machine, 3D plotter systems, and all types of welding SMD workstations for LED processing.
Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard started their collaboration in 1995 and have been internationally recognized as leading, British, avantgarde designers ever since. They are known for their ability to translate their creativity into simple but emotionally charged products and designs. Some of their masterpieces have been purchased by the most renowned museums in the world, including the French National Art Collection and the Victoria and Albert Museum and are on display at the Design Museum in London as well as at the MoMA and the Museum of Art and Design in New York. They have worked with some of the leading names in contemporary design, including David Gill Galleries, Contrasts Gallery, Swarovski, Chanel, Veuve Clicquot, the London Design Festival, Tai Ping, Bernhardt Design and LIittala.
Fredrikson Stallard create works that thrive on a raw sense of energy, chaos, destruction and recreation, to allow us to experience the world in new ways, and to see things through a different lens. Their work approaches the post-apocalyptic and the chimerical, visually embodying our thoughts. They offer us a dream of something entirely different, something extraordinary, genuine, authentic, human – a new reality.
Function and technology are the two cornerstones of modernism; Fredrikson Stallard reject neither, but what they do challenge is the idea that function and technology are somehow more important than emotion. They overturn the obsession of the post-industrial age with the notion that thought and rationality are somehow more important than feeling, that ego is more important than id.
Tord Boontje is known for his expression of romanticism in contemporary design. Some of his designs are whimsical and light-hearted; at the same time, they can be technically innovative and connect with powerful emotions.
“I’m interested in creating elements for everyday life that are exciting and uplifting to live with” says Boontje. With a strong interest in storytelling, nature, decoration, materials and technology, his work has an experimental approach. The results can vary from ornate to minimal, from being handcrafted to being made in automated fashion – by robots.
Tord Boontje is originally from the Netherlands. His education at the Eindhoven Design Academy and the Royal College of Art in London set the foundation for his Studio Tord Boontje. Established in 1996, the studio’s early projects already dealt with both, mass production as well as experimental one-off pieces. The studio has since worked with international companies on a range of products that includes lighting, graphic identity, textiles, ceramics, site-specific installations, and furniture. The studio’s work can be found in major museum collections such as the Victoria and Albert Museum and the MoMA in New York.
This extremely creative and prolific studio responds to and leads trends in design. An interest in social issues grew into working with artisans in developing countries and led to projects in Guatemala, Senegal, Rio de Janeiro and Columbia. The studio has grown, evolved and travelled, spending 5 years in rural France before Boontje decided to return to London in 2009. Since returning, Boontje has engaged with education, taking up the challenging appointment as Professor and Head of Design Products at the Royal College of Art, a position he held for four years.
The Bright Skies collection comprises four lighting pieces: Light Breeze, Bright Sky, Light Gems and Wall Gems. These lights are based around two large crystal shapes, an oval and a circle. The organic forms of these crystals create highlights and rippled reflections of light.
Light Gems and Wall Gems are lights with a single crystal. Light Gems are single pendant lights on a height adjustable cable, which can be arranged in a space as single light points or in groups.
The Wall Gems cast a rippled light reflection on the wall behind and can be used as single lights or arranged together in multiples.

Since Blossom was first shown at the Salone in Milan in 2002, it has become a contemporary classic. In his own words, Boontje explains: “When I was a child, I saw a frozen blossom branch after an ice storm. Many years later, I was reminded of the mesmerizing beauty of these frozen, sparkling flowers and interpreted this in crystal. Since Blossom has been in production, the iconic blossom branch form has stayed the same, but the lighting technology and detailing has evolved. Now the LED’s are so small that we can place the light inside the flowers, creating the light effect I originally had in mind.”
When lighting is done right, it doesn’t just reveal things you couldn't previously see – it shows you things as they were meant to be seen.
Light plays a significant role in our world. When there is good lighting, we can light up dimmer environments or, give add a fresh touch to the layout of your home by gaining depth and comfort. Having good lighting adds several benefits to a given space. Corner lamps, wall sconces and pendant lights on the ceiling help brighten a room as well as creating a visually larger space.
It is important to remember that the right light also improves the mood and reduces stress. Generally, we tend to accept the presence of light the way it tends to appear and are often not fully aware of the power that light has in our daily life. This is the reason why depression has a tendency to be more prevalent in places with fewer hours of sunshine per day. Likewise, mood improves with good weather or on clear days.

Light color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K), and the higher the Kelvin, the cooler the color. For instance, 4,000 K will be a cool, bluish white, whereas 2,700 K will be a warmer, yellower light, more akin to luminous bulbs.
Integrated LEDs are built into the lighting fixture itself. Whether these are replaceable or not will depend on the design of each light. Our LEDs have a lifecycle of up to 55,000 hours (e.g., ~6 hours a day for the next 25 years) However, if an LED has to be replaced, let us know as these are always custom made and only available through DESIGNCOM.

The location and design of windows is important to offer the feeling of natural light for a longer period of time. That is why, where possible, we have to make decisions about the best possible orientation, taking into account the climate and the location of your home. With natural lighting inside your home, you can save on the electricity bill. This is a long-term benefit. Where fixed elements like windows can’t be selected or modified, artificial lighting should be considered to brighten up a space.
A LED (light-emitting diodes) lasts longer than any other lightbulb and is also the most energy efficient. In fact, the LED is a highly useful tool in creating a more sustainable society. It is incredibly powerful as it means reducing household energy consumption and waste. Moreover, the LED is 85% more energy-efficient than an ordinary halogen bulb.
Choosing energy-efficient lighting helps to save money and helps to save the environment. From something as simple as just changing light bulbs to installing solar panels, there are many options for sustainable design. If you consider that 90 percent of the energy of a standard light bulb is transformed into heat, which then costs more to air condition the space, you may consider wanting to start by replacing some bulbs around your home. Ultimately, LEDS are contributing to a great deal of enduring, positive change.
Most of our fixtures are directly connected to your power cables (wall or ceiling). In the case of table lights or other products, which require a plug, we offer country specific options.
When we talk about a “regular lightbulb,” we mean an incandescent bulb – the type that’s been around since Thomas Edison patented his invention in 1879. These bulbs have filaments that glow, producing both heat and light when energy flows through them. LEDs, on the other hand, have electrons that flow through them to create photons – light we can see. Photons generate almost no heat. LEDs also require much less energy to create the same amount of brightness as incandescent lights, and last much longer. LEDs use much less energy than incandescent bulbs because diode light is much more efficient, power wise, than filament light. LED bulbs use more than 85% less energy than incandescent lighting. At low power levels, the difference is even greater.

Clean your fixture regularly with a duster or a soft cloth using plain water or a mild detergent soap.
Make sure any cleaning or polishing cloth is free of abrasive material.
The warranty claim is contingent upon the prerequisite that a customer has reported any defects that have occurred in writing in due time and that the seller receives this report. It is the responsibility of a customer to provide evidence that the defect exists within an appropriate period of time, in particular by providing to the seller the documents and/or data available on the customer’s premises. Unless otherwise agreed, the statutory period of 2 years warranty shall apply.
More details can be found in our Terms and Conditions.
Sourcing its energy from its own highly efficient solar panels and green energy from the Tyrolean alps, LIGHTCOM is proud to contribute to a sustainable production future, in line with the UN Sustainable Goals. We are willing to continuously reduce our ecological footprint as we strive for ongoing sustainability.
We are always on the lookout for new, innovative materials and try to involve our local partners whenever we can. For example, most of our metal is sourced in Vorarlberg (Tyrol’s neighbor to the west). Furthermore, we process nearly everything in our own manufacturing facility, in-house.
Our Packaging is removable, reductive, recyclable, renewable, and reusable.
Our packaging is predominantly made of recycled cardboard and/or paper as these materials make excellent choices for their biodegradability and low impact on the environment.
Our corrugated cardboard boxes come in many shapes and sizes. A further one of our cardboard’s strengths is...well, its strength. Triple and quintuple-walled cardboard boxes can hold an incredible amount of weight. It's also highly resistant to blunt and piercing forces. This means that the cardboard we use does an exceptionally good job at keeping our product secure throughout the shipping process.
All our lighting fixtures, including very sensitive parts, are wrapped in materials including biodegradable and recyclable materials rather than plastic and styrofoam.
